Luxembourg – a grand duchy with grand opportunities
The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is an important financial center and has the second-highest per capita income in the world. In addition, it is the administrative seat of several government agencies of the European Union.
Luxembourg’s economy is shaped to a significant degree by the banking and insurance sectors as well as the steel industry. However, wine production and agriculture also play an important role. The Grand Duchy is renowned for its beer and the white wine cultivated in the Mosel valley.
Bordered by Belgium, France and Germany, Luxembourg’s national language is « Letzeburgisch», which is closely related to German. For most Luxembourgers, German is their second language and is also used in the media. French is the official administrative language.
